 {a bit about me}

a condensed autobiography

As long as I can remember I have been drawing. Maybe it was wood ducks and Count Raggi's Bird-of-Paradise in my fourth grade sketch book....
Or sketches of my Colorado potato beetles or the current pet praying mantis in my notes on their care and feeding. But I was always hard at it. Even if at that point in life, I was really torn between being an ornithologist and an entymologist.

Even before I knew what a logo was, I was designing. My brother and I, as kids, would put together
newspapers on some program we ran on our family's spankin' new Apple IIe. One of our favorite
programs was Print Shop, choosing fonts and clip art to make banners and greeting cards.

As I approached the end of high school in our humble little rural town (there are cornfields on
three sides of my family's home, a cow pasture on the fourth side), I was spending EVERY
spare moment in the art room, glued (often literally) to the project of the moment.
Realizing at some point that I did not have much patience for children, ruling out teaching art
as a viable career path, I decided the "commercial art" path would be mine.
